Microplot
7
There are, essentially, seven
specialised versions in the Microplot® family.
Microplot 7 is designed for 32Bit Windows®
systems. Microplot feature list a table of features
available in the various versions of
Microplot7®.
In general : Microplot is a
suite of software that is designed to combine on a
single screen all the necessary navigational and
environmental information required for the bridge
team to make quick and safe assesments of impending
situations, thereby raising the safety standards on
the bridge. Microplot® can display either
vectored or raster scanned charts. Because
Microplot is software, it can be quickly and cost
effectively upgraded as the requirements for
compliance with ECDIS, or any other standards,
unfold :
Summary
Mariner
- As the name suggests, this
version of the software is designed with the
Merchant Navy Navigator in mind.
- Includes the use of the
BSB® format NOAA® charts in addition to
S57, ARCS® and C-Map
CM93/3®.
- A Cross-Track Error window
is present and has been extented to include an
interface for 'Fuel Optimisation
Systems'.
- Plotting tools.
- ARPA target CPA
information.
- Complex area alarms. Allows
alarming of any number of irregular shaped
areas.
Mariner ECDIS
- Designed tested and approved
by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), as meeting all the
IMO regulations for an
Electronic
Chart Display
& Information
System.
- Includes the use of 5 chart
formats; S57, C-Map CM93/3®, ARCS® and
BSB® format NOAA®.
- Route analysis with risk
assessment.
- Comprehensive alarm
indication including user-defined
look-ahead
- Many plotting
tools.
- ARPA target CPA
information.
- Navtex integration with
positioned on-screen indicators
- Complex area alarms. Allows
alarming of any number of irregular shaped
areas.
- Log, Echo-sounder,
auto-pilot etc., plus the usual user
overlays.
Survey
- Two software packages (MR
and SA) designed for marine survey, bathymetry,
hydro-acoustic & dredging
operations.
- Survey Movement Record is
developed more with mobile targets in mind. e.g.
'Tailboard' tracking and acoustic target
tracking (HPR).
- More than 30 Navigation Aid
syntaxes.
- Conversion to any Datum,
including 'Flat earth' with any direction up
(x,y).
- Output to Survey tools
and/or to autopilot.
- Conversion software enabling
all Microplot data files to be converted to
ASCII format for use with other post-processing
software.
- DXF to Microplot conversions
enabling the display of CAD created
data.
- Survey Sea-bed Analysis Has
all the previously described survey features
less the mobile target features of Survey Move,
but plus the full interfaces for QTCView®,
SeaScan®, RoxAnn® and Fishscope V®
for sea-bed analysis .
Network
- This is an Office version of
Microplot in that it can accept no input from
external sensors (Navaids, Gyro etc.), but is
capable of running over a LAN. It is designed
with the corporate, college or nautical school
user in mind. A license is purchased for a
maximum number of users and the system will then
monitor the LAN ensuring that no further copies
of Microplot can be started until one has been
closed down.
- Office versions have all the
functionality of their comparative 'Live' system
(See below), less the ability to accept live
input.
Work-Boat
- This is the entry level of
Microplot, ideal for Pilot cutters, Harbour
authority launches, diving tenders, inshore
fishing vessels etc.
- Interface upto 4 different
Navaid of various syntaxes: eg. NMEA 0183, Decca
Mk52, Furuno and a user defined such as Sercel
Veripos.
- Decca/Loran/Lat & Long
conversions, on-line.
- Interface to Echo-sounders
and colour track by depth.
- The ability to display both
Raster charts (, Seafarer and BSB)as
well as Vectored charts ( or C-Map®) and
superimpose your own user files.
- Automatic conversion from
your GPS Navaid Datum (WGS 84) to that of the
chart in use.
Standard
- This is the version of
Microplot® supplied to the fishing industry
and also to the marine aggregate dredging
industry.
- Interfaces for more Navaid
syntaxes.
- Interface for ARPA radars,
giving the ability to record the track of
acquired targets.
- Three interfaces for sea-bed
analysis tools available in the same software.
Quester Tangent View®, SeaScan®,
RoxAnn® and Fishscope V® from American
Pioneer.
- The ability to record the
track of acquired targets and overlay on
ARCS®, NOAA® (from BSB in the USA) and
C-Map or LiveChart vectored charts with your own
user files overlaid.
- A scaleable
ownship.
- Gyro interface.
SIS continues to broaden its
approach to the much wider market - that of the
deepsea fleet operators, navies and port
authorities - all of which can benefit from the
cost effective approach of SIS to marine software
system design. Unlike many other companies in
similar fields SIS presents a team of professional
seafarers well trained in computer systems design
and maintenance. From its headquarters in Aberdeen,
this financially sound British company provides
effective systems proven in the bridges and
wheelhouses of modern cargo ships, naval vessels,
tugs, dredgers, fishing vessels, rigs and anchor
handlers around the world.
